Our Approach to Head & Neck Cancer

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with thyroid, tongue, throat, oral or another type of head and neck cancer, experts at Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center are here to offer the compassionate care you need.

Your Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center team uses advanced technology to precisely diagnose and treat the specific type and stage of your cancer. We use the latest, most targeted treatments, including the latest clinical trial therapies, to help you fight cancer.

All of our patients receive care based on the same protocols and practice standards provided at MD Anderson Cancer Center and benefit from integration with MD Anderson clinicians and researchers.

"We work as a team - patient, surgeon and cancer physicians - to give each patient an individualized plan of care that gives them the greatest chance of a successful outcome."

– DR. FAISAL AHMAD, MD, Interim Chief of Head & Neck Surgery

Why choose Baptist MD Anderson?

Advanced Treatment & Care

Our patients benefit from an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach. That means your case is discussed in detail at regularly scheduled conferences attended by all treating physicians and other healthcare professionals. You will also meet with your team of doctors and support staff in one location, reducing the need to travel to several facilities. A nurse navigator will also be assigned to you and guide you through every step of the way to offer education, coordinate appointments, tests and treatments, and offer you and your family support.

Your physical, emotional and spiritual needs are important, too, so care plans include support services from social workers, psychologists, physical and occupational therapists, nutritionists and chaplains, as well as survivorship services and prevention.

Screenings are vitally important because they can help doctors diagnose cancer early, when it is at its most treatable stage.
