Caring for you every step of the way

Our Approach to Skin Cancer

If you or a loved one has recently been diagnosed with skin cancer, like melanoma, Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center physicians offer the hope you need. Our highly trained skin cancer specialists provide compassionate, expert cancer care.

Your highly-skilled team uses advanced technology to precisely diagnose the specific type and stage of your melanoma. We use the latest, most targeted treatments, including immunotherapy and the latest clinical trial therapies, to help you fight cancer.

All of our patients receive care based on the same protocols and practice standards provided at MD Anderson Cancer Center and benefit from integration with MD Anderson clinicians and researchers.

"My philosophy of care involves spending the time to get to know my patients. I want my patients to know all of their options so that together we can make the best decisions."

– CHRISTOPHER PEZZI, MD, FACS, SURGICAL ONCOLOGIST, Surgical Oncologist

Why choose Baptist MD Anderson?

Advanced Treatment & Care

Our patients benefit from an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach. That means your case is discussed in detail at regularly scheduled conferences attended by all treating physicians and other healthcare professionals. You will also meet with your team of doctors and support staff in one location, reducing the need to travel to several facilities. A nurse navigator will also be assigned to you and guide you through every step of the way to offer education, coordinate appointments, tests and treatments, and offer you and your family support.

Your physical, emotional and spiritual needs are important, too, so care plans include support services from social workers, psychologists, physical and occupational therapists, nutritionists and chaplains, as well as survivorship services and prevention.

The cancer experiences we’ve had are a testimony to our faith in God and a testimony to the treatments we received at Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center.

As the saying goes, "it takes a village" to properly treat someone with cancer. This saying was especially true for Bob and his wife Barbara.
