PATIENT NAVIGATION
We’re With You All the Way
Nurse navigators, sometimes called patient navigators or care coordinators, are health care workers who assist patients on their journey through the complex health care system. Navigators are your advocate and go-to resource during your treatment.
Care navigation functions may include:
- Setting up your sequence of treatment appointments
- Maintaining contact between you and your physicians
- Removing barriers that come up along the way
- Educating you through the cancer learning curve
At Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, we care about you—your health, your loved ones and all that makes you, you.
WE'LL GET YOU THERE
Coordinating Your Care Team
Your multidisciplinary care team may be made up of several of the following healthcare professionals and additional support staff.
- ONCOLOGISTS
- PATHOLOGISTS
- SURGEONS
- NURSE PRACTITIONERS
- REGISTERED NURSES
- PHYSICAL THERAPISTS
- PSYCHOLOGISTS
- CLINICAL RESEARCHERS
- SURVIVORSHIP COORDINATORS
YOU ARE MORE THAN A DIAGNOSIS
You’ll Know Exactly Who to Call
You’ll be assigned a nurse navigator who specializes in your cancer type and serves as an essential member of the multidisciplinary team to support your care. Your nurse navigator acts as a central point of contact and coordinates all components involved in clinical care, treatment sequence, and patient education. They can also direct you to social work and financial services you need along the way.
After you meet with your Patient Financial Advocate and receive a binder with helpful information about your patient experience, we’ll introduce you to your Nurse Navigator. From that moment on, they are your guide throughout your Baptist MD Anderson experience and you can contact them directly.
Cancer Changes Your Life. Support Changes Your Cancer.
Nurse Navigators partner with other support allies to connect you with the resources you need.
OUR LOCATION
There’s not a specific location for our nurse navigation services because we come to you at the Baptist MD Anderson campus – a beautiful facility designed to care for your mind, body, and spirit.
We invite you to take a virtual tour of our cancer center.
